The Fish Creek Area: Family and Recreation-Oriented

Living in the Fish Creek area, residents find the true family-oriented community that is the calling card of the Yampa Valley. The majority of homeowners in the Fish Creek area of Steamboat Springs are full time residents with children, and those without kids will likely have a few dogs out in the yard. This is a friendly mountain community, through and through.

A great trail system meanders throughout the area leading from downtown to Steamboat Boulevard, where you will always find plenty of hikers and bikers enjoying the scenery. The Fish Creek Falls area is situated just above town so you are greeted by all of the best views in the valley, including Sleeping Giant mountain and the ski resort. The most photographed area in Steamboat Springs, Fish Creek Falls, is minutes away and offers an abundance of great hiking.

The Fish Creek area of town is most commonly described as “between downtown and the mountain.” Fish Creek Falls is full of mainly free-standing homes, with a few duplexes and townhome communities throughout. As you climb up Fish Creek Falls Road, the close-knit neighborhoods turn into larger, more private residences. There is an incredible variety of price points and styles of home in the Fish Creek neighborhood, so be sure and take the tour—this is the definition of “something for everyone.”

The proximity of Fish Creek to both downtown Steamboat Springs and the ski area is ideal, while still offering the feel of a residential community and the convenience of a new bus route through the area. Steamboat Springs High School sits on the western edge of the Fish Creek area, bordering downtown Steamboat Springs. Since this area includes many neighborhoods that sit high above the valley floor, many of the properties offer spectacular views to Howelsen Hill, downtown Steamboat Springs and across the South Valley.
